EDDIE VAN KIRK DEAD AT 45

Former Baltimore warrior and the states biggest drawing card in the early 90's
passed away last week from an infection that was caused when he was shot
in a robbery attempt last November. I worked as Eddie's agent during his
heyday and he was never a top contender but was exciting and tough a
fighter as one could be. Van Kirk retired with a 27-9-2 record with 13
knockouts. Eddie was the Maryland state welterweight champion, he did
upset Edwin Curet who had beat both Mickey Ward and Glenwood Brown.
Eddie was a true warrior who had a wild streak in him but if he was your
friend he would never turn his back on you .
Van Kirk boxed 3 world champions including Vinnie Pazienza,
Hector Camacho and Vincent Pettway.

MANDO RAMOS DEAD AT 59
I am very sadden to report that former Lightweight Champion (my friend)
Mando Ramos has passed away at his home in San Pedro, he was 59 years
old & youngest ever to win the lightweight crown (2-18-69) ... regained it
almost "exactly" three years later (2-19-72) ... there is more - but I need my
space today to grieve with this ... my sincerest prayers are with his family ...

THE AGE OF 79. JOE HAD BEATEN THE LIKES OF IKE WILLIAMS, ART
ARAGON, JOHNNY SAXTON, LUTHER RAWLINGS, WALLACE BUD SMITH,
AND BOBBY DYKES. HE BOXED A DRAW WITH JOEY GIARDELLO, HE
